What to expect on your first visit?

Vestibular Rehabilitaiton Therapy begins with a comprehensive assessment that includes a history of  your symptoms and how they affect  your daily activities. Since dizziness and imbalance can be caused from a variety of factors, the therapist will screen the visual and vestibular systems, as well as, assess muscle strength, sensation, range of motion, coordination, posture, balance, movement and walking ability. We use an exercise-based approach to address each specific problem related to the vestibular disorder and each exercise program is catered to address your needs specifically.

Have a friend or family member accompany you to your first appointment. It is common to feel more dizzy, nauseous or unwell after the comprehensive clinical assessment. The clinical assessment is meant to test your tolerance and limitations of your vestibular system, parts of your nervous system (visual, cerebellum and somatosensory) and physical systems.
