Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Your pelvic floor is working 24/7, supporting your bladder, colon, rectum and sexual organs which is why the pelvic floor muscles are essential to maintaining continence, supporting the pelvic organs, provide lumbar stability and improving sexual function. What is Wellness Pelvic Floor Rehab?

Pelvic Therapy aims to improve pelvic pain by addressing the pelvic floor tissue dysfunction such as pelvic muscles that become too loose or too tight. Pelvic floor dysfunction can lead to urinary leakage and accidental bowel leakage.

In some cases, individuals have a sense of pressure and fullness in their pelvic organs which may be caused when the uterus, bladder and bowel may drop called Pelvic Organ Prolapse.

Pelvic muscles that are too tight can be hard to relax, causing difficult bowel movements, incomplete bladder emptying, burning during urination, weak urinary stream, constipation or pain during intercourse. Physiotherapists with advanced training in pelvic pain are authorized to perform internal techniques (vaginal and/or rectal) and can assess the muscles of your lower back, hips and sacroiliac joints, as well as, the connective tissues and nerves surrounding your pelvic organs.
